The Bierling were a merchant family from Bad Bayersoien. They had held the office of the salt factor (appointed as an official administrator of the salt landfills, places where the transported salt on the Rottstrasse was stored) and they were the “first family” in Bad Bayersoien over three centuries.
The museum in Bayersoien reports about their lives, their hardships and shows how they lived.
It also deals with traditional craftsmanship and the peat mining. Equipment from some bygone based craft guilds such as blacksmith, Wagner, carpenters, saddlers, shoemakers, stonemasons, are also exhibited.
Due to the collecting passion of Martha Echtler a great documentation of contemporary popular piety can be displayed. The extensive collection includes colored engravings, glass paintings and monastery works as well as pilgrimage souvenirs and sculptures.
Come and immerse yourself in a bygone age
