Hardly any tour around Murnau am Staffelsee offers more insights into intact nature than the well-known and popular Moos circular route.
Whether it's a shrike, corncrake or adder, carnivorous sundew, Siberian iris, bedbug orchard or Charlemagne's scepter, in the Murnauer Moos - the largest contiguous and largely original moorland in Central Europe, there is still a great wealth of plant and animal species that have not existed elsewhere for a long time gives. In the Murnauer Moos, large areas of scattered meadows, low and transitional moors, spring funnels, oxbow lakes and residual lakes are combined with fully developed raised moors to form a complex of habitats with many rare and endangered species.

Directions
Starting from Georgskircherl, also called "Ähndl", which was built in the 8th century and is therefore one of the oldest churches in the Staffelsee area, the hike leads along Ramsach and Lindach, always with a view of the mountain range bordering the Moos, and then to the right branching off onto a boardwalk with a rest hut in the middle of the moor to get a closer look at the flora and fauna.
For hikers who like to stop off along the way, we recommend not taking the junction but continuing straight on. The sun terrace (moor and mountain views) and good cake in Café Habersetzer reward the extra effort of the detour to Grafenaschau.
Once in Westried, follow Graf-Alban-Straße to the right and then Moosrainer Straße. Walk along the second junction to the left and you will come back to a footpath that will soon take you along the railway lines on a beautiful ridge towards the east. After crossing the railway line for the second time, follow the path to the right and then immediately left again.
Now you return towards Ähndl and can visit the church or stop off in the shade of the chestnut trees in the adjacent beer garden or on the sun terrace of the Hotel Alpenhof.
