The trail always initially leads along a ridge to Hagen, a small village with its wonderfully situated beer garden that invites you to take a rest. Right after that is the small St. Blaise Baroque Church. The side altar with the image of St. Erasmus is a reminder that the Loisach River flowing beneath the village was used by the rafters in Hagen.

We continue to hike via the hamlet of Perlach to the Guglhör estate, where rare breeds of cattle and sheep are bred by the last Bavarian Principal and State Stud Farm Schwaiganger. Here you can also fortify yourself with refreshments in the beer garden.

From there the route goes through a forest about one and a half kilometres down to the Loisach River and into the so-called “Hagener Moor” with its rare plants, then always along the banks of the river via Mühlhagen back to the starting point. Particularly in the summer, this last stretch of about eight kilometres offers many nice opportunities for resting, for example on the exposed bands of sand in the river that originates in Ehrwald (Austria). Due to its flooding problems the river repeatedly ensures headlines. The Loisach flows into the Isar River behind Wolfratshausen. With a bit of luck, impressive sunsets are provided, particularly in the late afternoon and evening hours.

In case of emergency, please notify the nearest rescue coordination centre. Regardless of location, you can reach this throughout Germany under the telephone number 112.
