Your cultural enjoyment

For the artist Franz Marc, blue was the only color that made him “feel good”. In the area around Murnau he particularly appreciated the blue light atmosphere and gave the region the title “The Blue Land”.

Home of inspiration

There are cultural treasures in abundance in the Blue Land. Be it the Glentleiten open-air museum with its over 60 original buildings or the many museums in the region and the surrounding area. What is particularly exciting is the historical background of the region with the many artists who found inspiration in the Blue Land. There is still a lively artistic scene today. You can immerse yourself in the lives of Wassily Kandinsky and Gabriele Münter in the Münter House. The best place to marvel at works by the Blaue Reiter is in the Murnau Castle Museum. The Staffelseemuseum is dedicated to the history of the island of Wörth, fishing and reverse glass painting. Nature and culture combine various themed trails such as the glassworks circular trail, the Drachenstich circular trail or the art walk in the footsteps of the Blue Rider.

Münter House

Wassily Kandinsky and Gabriele Münter lived together in the Münter House from 1909 to 1914. Today there is a museum there that provides insights into the artists' lives back then.
