Historical/Archaeological Sites
The Leonhardi trip takes place every year on November 6th, the patron day of St. Leonhard.

It is one of the most important horse processions in Upper Bavaria. Early in the morning, more than 300 decorated horses and around 60 festively decorated floats gather from all over the surrounding area with traditional costume clubs and music bands, with scenes from rural and church life and representations of traditional crafts.

The long procession moves past enthusiastic spectators from Murnau to Froschhausen for the blessing of the horses. Many small and large riders are also there, from ponies to draft horses, everything is represented. The decorated horses, carriages and wagons and the men and women dressed in traditional holiday costumes are a real feast for the eyes.

This custom of blessing horses is ancient, and the Bavarian people's love for their horses is also ancient.

Traditionally, this festival also takes place Leonhardi market in Murnauer Bahnhofstrasse and around 20 p.m. the Leonhardi dance in the culture and conference center instead.
