The central location on Lake Staffelsee...

Located between Murnau and Uffing on Lake Staffelsee, Seehausen is a popular Upper Bavarian holiday destination with its old fishing tradition, beach and wonderfully preserved townscape. Whether swimming, cycling or at the lake festival: Seehausen is picture-book Bavaria par excellence!

You can stay overnight in family-run inns, holiday apartments and guesthouses or at the “Halbinsel Burg” campsite. If you're looking for adventure, head over to the camping island of Buchau and spend eventful days in the middle of Lake Staffelsee.

Staffelseemuseum Seehausen

The Staffelseemuseum Seehausen impressively presents the extraordinary history of the fishing village: from the excavations on the island of Wörth, the emergence of a special handicraft and the fish-rich grounds of the Staffelsee.

Sea festivals and more in the Blue Land

Every summer, various lake festivals are celebrated in Seehausen and Uffing. Always accompanied by music from local bands, things are sociable there.

At the traditional fishing competition at the boat landing in Seehausen, 24 boys compete against each other. Standing on rowing boats elongated with wooden boards and each "armed" with a lance, the aim is to get the opponent into the water. The winner gets to call themselves the Fisherman King for a year.

The “big sea festival” in Uffing always features brilliant fireworks.

Celebrations also take place at the annual folk festival in Murnau as well as at various forest festivals - for example in Ohlstadt.

Sea procession in Seehausen

Every year on Corpus Christi, the lake procession, which is unique in Bavaria, takes place in Seehausen. After Holy Mass, the procession travels on a ferry to the island of Wörth. Accompanied by many small boats with festively dressed believers, the presence of Jesus Christ in consecrated bread and wine is remembered on this day. Once on the island, the congregation goes to the altar in the St. Simpert Chapel.

A procession also takes place in Murnau on Corpus Christi Day after Holy Mass. The festively dressed members of the parish, the communion children and clubs in their traditional costumes follow the monstrance with the Blessed Sacrament, which the priest carries under a "sky" to the 4 altars in the village. These are traditionally built in front of the 4 breweries. There is singing and prayer.
