Hiking with an enjoyable view of the Zugspitze. This stage leads through forests and pastures in low altitudes of the Blaues Land, with the Zugspitze in view.
Attention: The Franz Marc footpath, which runs above and parallel to Hagener Straße, is expected to be closed for approximately two months from Thursday, September 16, 2021, due to the laying of a gas pipe and a water pipe. The Murnau market asks for your understanding and patience.
We recommend hiking north along the upper Leitenweg.
The route takes us from Murnau through forests and pastures, past lakes with a wonderful panorama towards the Alps. The easy hike with just a few gentle climbs leads through small towns, partly along the wide Loisach and on forest paths along the edge of the forest, so that we reach Eschenlohe via Ohlstadt.

Directions
We begin today's stage in the middle of Murnau's idyllic pedestrian zone, which first takes us past the St. Nicholas Church and several viewpoints to the outskirts of the town. Through forests and pastures we soon catch our first glimpse of Froschhauser Lake, which we then almost circle directly.
A counter climb later, we can once again enjoy the wonderful panorama towards the Alps. After crossing the Loisach, we follow the path south and reach Pömetsried airfield. For a few minutes we hike further towards the Alpine panorama and a little later we reach the next larger town. It should be noted here that the short stretch from the airport to Ohlstadt runs through a moss. If there is very heavy rainfall, the path may be a little more difficult to pass.
Ohlstadt is a typical Bavarian village and tempts us hikers to all sorts of enjoyment: whether it's ice cream, a drink or a stop - well fortified, we then set off for the next part: initially at the edge of the forest, the wide forest path soon leads us in and up into the forest, where we can always see the Zugspitze massif through the treetops. Once you have arrived at the Heldenkreuz, it is only a few minutes to the center of Eschenlohe, our destination for the day.

Author's tip
If you still feel like it, we recommend a detour to the Heldenkreuz shortly before our destination Eschenlohe: it takes 140 meters in altitude to enjoy the fabulous panorama. After that it's only a few minutes to the town center of Eschenlohe, our destination for the day.
