Hike
This tour combines culture and views on quasi-historical terrain.

The hiker moves on quasi-historical terrain when he walks the Hungerbach circular route. It was there, around Spatzenhausen, that the Graf Arco Battle of Bavaria against the Tyroleans took place in 1809, which is still commemorated every year with a shooting of the same name. Back then, during the times of Emperor Franz and Napoleon, the farmers courageously and successfully defended their towns against the plundering enemy. A cannonball, which is privately owned, and a Graf Arco monument in Spatzenhausen still bear witness to this battle.

Directions

Today the lovely, agricultural area gives a peaceful impression, but you can easily imagine how the horsemen galloped across the fields and the cannons roared. On the beautiful, flat path through the forest and across meadows between Spatzenhausen via Tauting to Eglfing, there are always charming views. Church spiers appear here and there behind hills, then disappear again to make way for impressive views of the nearby mountains. After the small town of Tauting, which invites you to take a break with a biotope and a farmer's café with regional products, you continue mostly along field paths to Eglfing. There too, hikers can see something historical, but of a different kind. In the village you can visit a 300-year-old, partly restored fresco courtyard and a local museum, and the nature adventure playground is a welcome change for children. Back in Spatzenhausen, the path can be continued to Riegsee, almost three kilometers away.
