Directions
After a detour to the cool waterfall there, we go up to a ridge (approx. 700 meters above zero) on which the idyllic hamlets of Pölten, Stern and Gröben lie. After breathtaking views from there of the foothills of the Alps, of the mountains from the Benediktenwand via Jochberg, Herzogstand to the Heimgarten and the Zugspitze, of the monasteries of Benediktbeuren and Schlehdorf and the Walchensee power plant, the path leads to the left over a shady ravine down to the Loisach near Kleinweil, and back to the parking lot at the Großweiler Loisach Bridge, where there is also a monument in honor of the Loisach raftsmen.
The old church of St. Georg in Großweil, St. Korbinian in Kleinweil and St. Martin in Zell are definitely worth a visit during the hike.
From Großweil you can also take a detour to the open-air museum of the Upper Bavaria district on the Glentleiten, which with its old houses, mills, ponds and many animals provides a successful diversion, especially for families with children.
