Großweil is a small up-and-coming municipality located on the Loisach River in the Alpine foreland of Upper Bavaria. The structure is mainly rural, and we currently have 1,419 residents who live in the districts of Großweil, Kleinweil and Zell as well as in the hamlets of Pölten, Stern, Gröben and Glentleiten, the site of the famous open-air museum.

The municipality anxiously strives to preserve the village character and townscape while counteracting urbanisation. Cultural life in our municipality is mainly organised by local clubs. It ranges from musical to sports activities, and if this appeals to you, you are invited to actively take part. As the site of the Glentleiten Open-Air Museum with true-to-original, reconstructed farmhouses, village shops, alpine pastures, mills and workshops which are reminiscent of rural life 50 to 250 years ago, Großweil is always worth a visit. In addition, the natural outdoor pool – with children’s playground and sunbathing area – is worth a leap into the cool water, with a stop off for refreshments in one of the cosy inns afterwards. We wish you and your relatives a beautiful time and a pleasant stay in Großweil.
