Ohlstadt

Nature has been generous with Ohlstadt. Located at the foot of the Heimgarten (1,790 metres above sea level) on the edge of the Murnau Moor Nature Reserve and near the lakes Staffelsee and Riegsee, the municipality is embedded in one of the most beautiful landscapes in Bavaria.

A very special mixture of prominent figures from the past and present characterises the town. A visitor encounters the work of painters such as Friedrich August von Kaulbach and Max Beckmann. Ludwig Ganghofer, Ludwig Thoma, Luise Rinser and Richard von Kühlmann were guests here or spent part of their lives in Ohlstadt. The municipal area is also home to the Bavarian Principal and State Stud Farm Schwaiganger with over 500 horses.

Ohlstadt offers swimming pleasure during the summer in the family swimming area at the foot of the Heimgarten, which features a swimming pool, indoor heated pool, swimming channel, sunbathing area and children’s playground.
