The quality of life

With regard to the habitat concept in the Blue Land, the LebensQualiMeter formed the data basis for further discussions.

The “LQM” itself is a quantitative survey, the results of which paint a picture of the living space in the Blue Land. Particular strengths, weaknesses and starting points should become visible. In particular, personal feedback from participants provides important inspiration for measures to improve quality of life. On this page you will find the key results and findings of the survey.

Key findings of the LebensQualiMeter

  • People really enjoy living in the Blue Land and feel closely connected to their homeland
  • They particularly appreciate:
    • Family environment & strong community (club life, social cohesion, etc.)
    • Unique natural and cultural landscape right on your doorstep (moss, lakes and mountains)
    • Attractive town centers and intact village structures
    • Good supply situation in connection with Murnau as a lively, regional center
    • Good connections to attractive leisure activities and urban centers
    • Great openness & intensive cultural background (artist communities etc.)

The biggest challenges

  • Rising price levels & lack of availability of affordable housing (the relationship between income and cost of living in the region is no longer consistent; young people in particular are worried that they will not be able to build a future for themselves in the region)
  • Intensive day tourism is constantly increasing the pressure on attractive natural areas (lack of awareness of respectful treatment of the landscape and lifestyle, noise pollution, traffic and pollution increased, especially due to the pandemic)
  • Mobility and public transport in particular are key development areas for the coming years (desire for traffic relief, especially during peak seasons, as well as holistic and catch-up concepts for the close networking of all communities)
  • In the area of health care and education, satisfaction is higher than in other rural regions due to the good connections and offers around Murnau - but here too, people would like to see sustainable concepts for further development
  • There is great concern, especially in the surrounding villages, that the local supply structures (village shops, cafés, taverns, etc.) cannot be maintained in the future - they would like to see clear countermeasures
