The violin making museum was founded in 1930 and has been housed in one of the most beautiful and oldest houses in Mittenwald since 1960. The exhibition shows the craft of violin making and its three-hundred-year development, linked to local history.
The focus of the high-quality and extensive instrument collection is on baroque Mittenwald violin making. Of course, the 19th and 20th centuries up to the present day workshops are also presented. Audio and smell samples, historical films on the subject of violin making, the historical workshop and special exhibitions make the visit varied.
Tip: Tours of the museum can be organized for groups of 10 or more.
